JOSE MOURINHO insists he will not gamble with Frank Lampard's fitness on Chelsea's tour of Asia.

Lampard, 35, was pencilled in to start Wednesday's win over Singa All-Stars in Thailand but was ruled out after picking up an ankle knock.

The Blues take on a Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

And Mourinho said: "I don't want to risk.

"It is such a long pre-season we don't need to risk, especially on these pitches, which are not the best quality pitches.

"If on Sunday he is not 100 per cent, I am not risking him.

"He is an important player for us."
