The cover of OK! magazine boasts an exclusive interview with her personal trainer

As Kate Middleton took her first steps outside clutching her day old baby, OK! magazine hit the shelves with a cover story on how she will shape up after the birth.

The magazine's 'Royal Baby Special' cover story boasts an interview with the Duchess's trainer who claims: "She's super fit - her stomach will shrink straight back."

Inside the magazine claims:"The question on everyone's lips is not just the name, sex or weight of the baby, but also how Kate plans to return to her pre-pregnancy glory."

Inside the magazine carries a six page Duchess diet and shape-up plan.

The feature has received a massive backlash on Facebook and Twitter, with many calling for the publication to be boycotted.

"Absolutely disgusting journalism! @OK_magazine Kate Middleton's post-baby weight loss regime!!" tweeted one responder, another irate Twitter response said "Please tell me this is a spoof."

According to Irish Independent's fitness writer Karl Henry: "It's irresponsible to put such pressure on women. Any new mum has to get a sign off from her GP before she starts exercising, but she should wait at least six weeks."

"The body has been though a lot of trauma in birth and needs time to heal and recover," he explains.

When the Duchess took her first steps in front of the waiting media to introduce her day old baby yesterday, OK! magazine allegedly tweeted: "Anyone else have a 'how many people did she give birth to moment there? #royalbaby". The tweet has since been deleted from the account.

Kate made no effort to conceal her post pregnancy body, with her custom made Jenny Packham polka dot dress billowing against her tummy.

The dress design was said to be a nod to a polka dot dress worn by Princess Diane when she stepped out of the Lindo wing with baby William in 1982.

Author Sheila O'Flanagan reacted to the OK! magazine article on Facebook: "I saw this and thought it was a spoof. Don't buy these mags any more but decided will not even look at them in hairdresser or dentist in future. Women should be better than this!"
